Kamal Deen Abdulai, Nasara Coordinator
THE ASHANTI Regional branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has hatched a plan to break the ruling National Democratic Congress' (NDC) invincibility at the Zongo areas during election periods.

As part of the plan, the Nasara Club of the NPP in the region, led by its Coordinator, Mohammed Abdul Hamid, took part in the Gangara festival to mark the end of the Ramadan fasting of Muslims.

The annual event is mainly organised by the Muslim fraternity in Kumasi to mark the end of 30 long days of fasting. Zongo chiefs, imams and opinion leaders in the Zongo areas in the city attended the programme in large numbers. It was all merrymaking as the people were seen hugging and congratulating each other after a successful Ramadan.

Dressed in the red, white and blue colours of the party, the NPP members mounted a stage on the Alabar main street in Kumasi, venue for the merrymaking event on Wednesday afternoon.

The elated-looking NPP faithful, numbering hundreds, were the centre of attraction as they danced to melodious songs which attracted several people to their joint.

Mohammed Abdul Hamid said the Nasara wing decided to take part in the event ostensibly to prove to the Muslim faith in the region that the NPP is with them all the time.

He said the Nasara Club members took advantage of the ceremony to also interact freely with the attendants of the programme and also to explain the policies of the NPP to them.

He said the presence of the NPP members at the function achieved its intended purpose as the people got to know that the NPP is still strong and ready to win the 2016 polls and help improve Ghana's fortunes.

Abdul Hamid said the Nasara Wing of the NPP has decided to embark on a rigorous campaign in the Zongo areas so as to help the party to win more votes for the NPP in the 2016.

The Communication Director, Nasara Club, Ashanti Region, Moro Kabore, expressed satisfaction about the huge number of NPP people who attended the programme, saying, 'The NPP is now strong in the Zongo areas.'

He stated emphatically that the NPP would win an avalanche of votes from the Zongo areas in the region so as to help the NPP wrest political power from the NDC in 2016.
