Why Ghanaians Must Reject Mahama and the NDC

Why Ghanaians Must Reject Mahama and the NDC
07.06.2014 LISTEN

I begin with the premise that governance transcends ethnicity, region of origin, propaganda and more importantly age of the leader. A lot of issues flooded the Ghanaian media in the run-up to the 2012 general elections. The camp of H.E. President Mahama rode on the back of the region of origin of Mr. Mahama in the northern region. But today Ghanaians woke from their slumber to face the reality that these issues are propagandist tactics. They only breed hardships as it's today. President Mahama has failed as the following promises still linger on in the minds of Ghanaians.

To start with, the president lacks the zest to stem out corruption in his administration. 'We must include the judiciary so we can have evidence to prosecute culprits.' The president also commented that passing of the Freedom of Information Bill into law will enormously help in fighting corruption. These were the solutions Mr. Mahama advanced to tackle corruption at the second IEA debate in Accra. Today, the judiciary in Ghana is strengthened than ever before. The Freedom of Information Bill is not a law yet. On the contrary, there are a number of non complex cases of corruption in Ghana. Where is Mr. President? What evidence do you need to prosecute the culprits?

Again, it's the believe of Ghanaians that H.E. President Mahama and the NDC still remember the promise to implement one time premium for the National Health Insurance Scheme. The health of every Ghanaian must be of paramount importance to the government. And knowing this, the Mahama led administration promised us Ghanaians that we would pay once in our life time for health insurance. Mr. President, you're reminded that your government has effectively eighteen months to end your term. The good people of Ghana gave you their mandate to serve and are still waiting for your part of the bargain.

In furtherance, the promises to arrest the killers of the late Yaa Naa, to put money into the pockets of Ghanaians, provide offices for MPs in their constituencies, clean all filth in Greater Accra within 100 days and others aren't forthcoming. The government of president Mahama has clouded Ghanaians to believe that the country is broke. Unfortunately, this excuse can't move Ghanaians. Even an opposition party can't make this kind of excuse and go scot-free. Mr. JDM and the NDC knew the strength of Ghana's purse when all these stream of promises flooded the ears of the Ghanaian electorates.

Surprisingly, the Mahama led administration can't respect the feelings of Ghanaians. What is more shameful than to call the whole world to witness your promises to Ghana and has failed woefully in fulfilling them? The failed government wouldn't accept responsibility for its absolute failure. The Mahama's Administration still go about spewing unimaginable promises. When has the government realize the possibility of free senior high school education in Ghana?

Notwithstanding the hardships in Ghana today Ghanaians still remain calm. But it's about time the president and his lieutenants recognized the sufferings of the innocent Ghanaians. Government must know that the many broken promises will no longer be taken with impish disdain. Mahama and the NDC must go.
