General Secretary-Elect of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, has stated on a rather captivating and touching note that it was his wife who apparently broke the news of his victory to him.

He said, though he was confident of victory, his wife gave him the big surprise by breaking the news to him while he laid on his sick bed at the 37 military hospital early Sunday morning.

Kwabena Agyepong shared these moments in an interview with Kwame Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's Kokrokoo on Monday morning.

According to Kwabena Agyepong, though he was receiving treatment after a fatal accident in the run up to the congress, he had to seek permission from doctors at the 37 military hospital to show up at the congress grounds at least.

“I give all the glory and thanks to God for keeping me in these hard times and for that matter the last two days before the elections; only God knows what I have been through. I would also like to thank my church leaders and my fellow friends who called to pray with me and encouraged me,” Kwabena Agyepong stated.

He maintained that after a warm reception and mobbing particularly when he arrived at the Tamale Congress grounds, he was convinced that victory was not too far away.

The NPP General Secretary further urged all executives and NPP members to put the past behind them and gear up for the big battle ahead for NPP victory 2016.

He further cautioned against unnecessary bickering, backbiting, backstabbing and factionalism which could run down the party.

“What we need at this stage is a strong force and unity to work hard to wrestle power from the ruling NDC in 2016,” Kwabena Agyepong stated.

He said his management and leadership style would be driven along resourcing and strengthening the grassroot level of politics in all constituencies since elections are won from the polling stations.

“We are all going to work hard for victory 2016 but what I am bringing on board is basically resourcing and strengthening the grassroot base especially polling agents, constituency executives among others since these are the people we would need to garner support and win the elections,” Kwabena Agyepong emphasized.
