Reasons Why Homosexuality Should Not Be Frowned Upon

Reasons Why Homosexuality Should Not Be Frowned Upon

Homosexuality is said to mean a sexual attraction or behavior between members of the same sex or gender. Moreover, it is not a behavior accepted by most people in the world today due to various reasons or the other. Aside all the controversies about the issue of whether its wrong or right, I write to highlight a few reasons why it should be accepted into societies and nations.

First of all, homosexuality is a choice, and every person has the full right to be engaged in any activity they so wish to involve in, provided it's not criminal. The sex drive of every individual varies from one person to the other.

Therefore, a person who has decided to engage in sexual activities with the same gender is free to do so under the circumstance that, he or she must be given the full right and freedom of association. Most of all, they are being outcast and their image tarnished which I think is inhuman and unjust. So to speak, homosexuality should be openly accepted on the grounds that, it shall not violate individual rights and freedoms in the state.

Next, it should be accepted in order not to endanger young ones. I say this because; a person who is allowed to practice the act does so openly and freely. When this happens, persons involved do not hide anything from public and are highly noticeable. Otherwise, they do the act in their hideouts and lure innocent and naïve young ones into the act and cause them health and emotional problems. For this reason, parents are highly on the look-out for warning signs when they could have easily identified the signals if it was an open act. For instance, in Ghana most single sex second cycle institutions are noted for this act and it keeps relations in panic once their wards gain admission into these school, this however could have been a different story if its an accepted norm.

Also, it can attract foreign investors. By this, I mean that, most highly business oriented individuals in the world today have their own behaviors and beliefs of which homosexuality is a part. Before any contract is agreed on, they may want to be sure that they second or third party is one who beliefs in their shared dreams and ideas. 'For can two walk together? Except they agree.' An instance was when in the administration of Professor Evans Atta Mills, Ghana's late and former president, the head of state was asked to agree on the homosexuality tendency of Ghana before financial support can be granted her. And I'm in my room thinking, well, that should not be an issue once it does no harm but good to the country. In all, the country had to lose due to our stiff-neckedness.

Finally, its acceptance shows the level of peoples' civilization and development. A people who understand that everyone has choices and must be allowed to do what makes them feel human will surely be underway in development. This allows for teamwork by all of the people without fear or discrimination. It helps push a people and consequently a nation forward in their thinking, work and productivity. Putting the Americans for instance in picture, we observe that their level- headedness puts them on a bar far ahead of most nations and continents. They refuse to mar their minds with issues that will draw back their innovative and technological thinking. We must learn to cope with individual's differences and patterns if there should be any teamwork and productivity amongst us.

With the above stated points, I hope am able to convince readers that, homosexuality has come to stay and it will only be fair and civilized not to frown on it for whatsoever reasons. Then may I end with a word from Madeleine L'Engle of blessed memory which says, ' Because to take away a man's freedom of choice, even his freedom of wrong choice, is to manipulate him as though he were a puppet and not a person.'
