Go To Hell: Minister Tells Mills People

Central Regional Minister, Samuel Sarpong, has vehemently turned down an official duty to commission a six-unit classroom block at Ekumfi Otuam in the Central region.

The commissioning exercise which was supposed to have been done in Ekumfi Otuam and Ekumfi Arkra was only done at Ekumfi Arkra, leaving late President Mills' hometown Otuam out of the schedule.

According to the Regional Minister, he turned down the assignment to commission the project because he felt the security situation in Otuam was unstable, following skirmishes by the youth of the area that left some people injured.

'I will not commission the project, we will only do that of Ekumfi Arkra,' visibly angry Samuel Sarpong said.

The minister expressed his frustration when speaking at the commissioning and handing over ceremony of two primary schools, built by China Geo Engineering Corporation at Ekumfi Arkra.

He blamed the Chiefs and people of Ekumfi Otuam for the unstable situation, saying the chiefs could have averted the ugly situation. They sat unconcerned and watched the youth go on demonstration.

'They should bow their heads in shame instead of walking shoulder high', Mr. Sarpong said.

The Regional Minister reminded the people of the area that, late President Mills was President of Ghana, not only Otuam, adding, if he (Mills) left any project undone or unfinished, the Mahama government would certainly attend to it.

The people of Otuam have rather embarrassed the late President by embarking on such a demonstration knowing well that the road project has been given to contractors to develop, the worried Minister noted.

He also charged the Ekumfi Traditional Council to query the chiefs and people of Ekumfi Otuam who sat unconcerned and watch the commotion to happen.

It may be recalled that the people of Ekumfi Otuam went wild against this NDC government, accusing it of dereliction of projects commenced by late President.

56 years after independence, with revenues from oil, gold...you name it, the NDC govt cannot build even a simple primary school building. It has to be a Chinese company donating its services. The govt cannot account for $1billion dollars in oil revenues just as the NPP govt ministers cannot account for $24 million from the sale of the GNPC drill ship. Why this huge robbery by whoever is in government?
