YOUTH WALK FOR PEACEFUL ELECTIONS

Members of the youth wings of the various political parties, Northern Student Union in Ho Polytechnic and the entire youth of Ho undertook a peace on Saturday 10th November 2012 to add their voices to the call for all to ensure peaceful elections on December 7.

Clad in a T-Shirt with political parties' symbols amidst singing and dancing, the youth walked through t

he principal streets of the town. Starting the walk from the Ho Polytechnic campus, the youth combed through the principal streets of the municipality and back to the campus. This attracted Students from the tertiary, second cycle institutions and the general public.

The walked was organized with the aim of ensuring free, air peaceful and violence free elections.

Present were the representatives of the various political parties who pledged their support for a peaceful elections.

Speaking at the event the president of the Northern Students Union Ho Polytechnic Chapter, Mr.Richard Bisimpo underscored the need to drum home the need for peace during and after elections 2012.

He advised politicians not to use the youth especially their brothers in the north as stooges for their selfish political gains. He reiterated the need for all to shun attributing violence to the youth in the northern regions.

He finally admonished the youth in the Northern region to shun politicians with evil intentions and rather channel their energy into safeguarding the fragile peace there.

The leaders from the various youth wings of the political parties advised their colleagues to go out and vote on the Election Day and they shouldn't avail themselves to be used by some self-seeking politicians to cause mayhem.
