Mr. Kofi Adams, spokesperson for former President Jerry John Rawlings, yesterday described Mr. Asiedu Nketia's timekeeping warning as improper.

He was answering questions about his boss' attendance of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) two-day delegates' conference in Kumasi on Oman FM .

The NDC General Secretary, whose relationship with the former President and his office was frosty, reportedly warned that since he would be in charge of timing those who would speak at the party's event, he would ensure such persons adhered to the timing arrangement of ten minutes per speaker.

This has been interpreted to be a reference to the former President whose speech at the party could go beyond the time limit and even be vitriolic.

Mr. Kofi Adams said that such remarks did not help in achieving the unity in the party, adding that his boss, being a founder of the grouping, was entitled to addressing the gathering.

As to whether the spouse of the former President, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings was going to attend the function, he answered in the negative.

'Nana Konadu was not invited. Presupposing that since she is the wife of the former president she should automatically attend such a gathering is wrong. She is a political person in her own right and should be treated as such. She cannot be part of the twenty persons which the former president is entitled to bringing to the party function in Kumasi,' he said.

On the party's sanction against as deputy General Secretary he described the action as criminally hatched by Asiedu Nketia. The party should, he said, take the opportunity of the new wind blowing across it to right the wrong inflicted upon him.

In a political plane where actions of players were given all manner of interpretations, Nana Konadu's non-appearance would not be spared such conjectures.

Political observers were busy putting the jigsaw puzzle together especially, given the appearance of the National Democratic Party (NDP) on the political plane.

All eyes and ears were expectedly focused on the speech of former President Rawlings and his body language at the function.
