The Vice-Chairman of the NDC USA who is as well Chairman of the NDC New York, Alhaji Abass Adam Adamu and the Chairman of the NDC Zongo Caucus, New York Chapter Alhaji Abdul Aziz have jointly commended and congratulated the rank and file of the party and the delegates for their overwhelming endorsement votes for the current President John Dramani Mahama at the party's special delegates at the Baba Yara Sport Stadium on Thursday in Kumasi.
In a statement released to the press immediately after the declaration of the results, they indicated that the landslide victory of 99.5 percent achieved by President Mahama inarguably indicates his high level of popularity, marketability, cunning and charisma among the general electorates in Ghana.
They expressed their excitement as they watched live streaming of the event via the internet, with a massive and mammoth crowd from all nook and cranny of the country, which has shaken the very foundation of the Ashanti region- the so-called opposition strong hold of the NPP.
The US party executives also commended the founder and leader of the party, former President Jerry John Rawlings for his unexpected appearance at the congress in spite of his scheduled trip out of the country, adding that this is a clear testimony indicating the willingness of the former president to mend differences with the party and forge a formidable force to maintain his party's incumbency come December 7th, 2012. They were fascinated by his speech, which hit the kneel directly on the head.
They urged all party members to heed to the advice of former President Rawlings and President Mahama to be proactive and pragmatic in their campaign and eschew the use of abusive words, character assassination and violence as they campaign towards the elections in 2012.
