
Accra, May 11, GNA – President Yayi Boni of Benin and Chairman of the African Union on Friday arrived in Accra for a day's visit to hold talks with President John Atta Mills.
The two leaders are among four of African leaders invited by President Barack Obama for the G8summit.
President Mills welcomed his guest at the Kotoka International Airport after which Sedinam Eugenia Hotor of the New Hope International School at Kokomlemle in Accra presented him with a bouquet.
There was a 21-gun salute and he inspected an honour guard mounted by a detachment from the Ghana Navy.
There was drumming and dancing by a cultural troupe as well as national of Benin.
The two leaders later held talks and emphasized the need for Africans to efforts to unite and for Ghana and Benin to deepen their bilateral relations. President Mills described Benin as a powerful member of the ECOWAS.
President Boni said this was his first visit to Ghana since President Mills became head of state and stressed the need for stronger partnership between the two nations.
During the visit, President Yayi is expected to lay a wreath and tour the Kwame Nkrumah museum. The two leaders will hold talks at the Accra International Conference Centre.
