OMA Abrogates Revenue Collection Contract with REVSOL Company
26.04.2012 LISTEN

Obuasi, April 26, GNA – Obuasi Municipal Assembly (OMA) collected a revenue of GH¢1,596,971.93, representing 81.22% of the targeted revenue of GH¢1,996,056.00, forcing the assembly to abrogate its contract with REVSOL, a private revenue collecting company.

Mr. John Alexander Ackon, the Municipal Chief executive (MCE) who announced this at the general assembly meeting at Obuasi, said the assembly would now use its revenue collection staff to collect revenue and other fees in the entire municipality.

“It is now too early to comment on our staff performance but I must admonish them to work hard to justify the assembly's decision to revert to them since the engagement of private contractors was as a result of their poor performance”, he said.

Mr. Ackon urged the assembly members to assist in the collection of revenue from their electoral areas since they had a key role to play in the mobilization of revenue for the assembly.

Touching on grants, Mr. Ackon said the Common Fund was appreciable since “by the end of last year, the third quarter disbursement had been made and this is an extra-ordinary performance for the past couple of years.”

He said some projects including staff bungalows and classroom blocks had been completed and handed over.
