Christians asked to promote peace ahead of Election 2012

Accra, April 16, GNA – A clergyman at the weekend called on Christians to promote peace as Ghana gears up for parliamentary and presidential elections in December.

The Chancellor of the Rohi Christian Leadership Institute, Reverend Chris Parsram, said: "The scriptures instruct us to ensure that any darkness is replaced with light. Our duty as Christians is to ensure that there is peace everywhere."

He was speaking at the maiden graduation of the institute, for 38 students, on Saturday in Accra.

Rev. Christian noted that "the political landscape has become fraught with insults and agitations and Christians should inject tolerance, respect, peace and understanding, in society."

Rev. Parsram, who is also the presiding pastor of the Madina branch of the Word Miracle Church, called on Ghanaians to ensure peace and stability for development.

Rev. Dr. Abraham Esseh, a Senior Lecturer at the Institute, said though character instruction was important in Christianity, many churches preached about prosperity and ignored virtue and righteousness.

They graduands received a Diploma In Theology Certificate, after a five- month course.

The Chancellor's special award for the most inspiring student went to Mrs. Margaret Martinson, whilst Deaconess Mrs Margaret Amoafo was adjuged the over all best student.
