A group calling itself, the Concern Youth Group of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of Hohoe – Zongo in the Volta Region has raised concerns on the choice of running mate for Nana Akuffo- Addo in the 2012 general elections.
In a press statement sign by the spokesperson for the concern group Abdulai Ismaila, it stated that in 2008 general elections, Nana Akuffo Addo pairing with Dr.Mahammud Bawumiah as his running mate had an eviable result of 49.77% of the total votes cast, while prof.Evans Atta Mills had 50.23%.
The statement said the choice of Dr. Bawumiah will once again “boost our moral in wining 2012 election since he has been tried and tested”.
It will recall that, Dr.Bawumiah a moslem, from the Northern Ghana was the right choice which is consistent with the NPP'S idea of taking running mate from the North since 1969.
“We the NPP Youth Group therefore wish to plead with the National Executive Council Party Faithful to consider the above issues raised, otherwise his (Dr.Bawumiah's) replacement will spell doom for the party come 2012.
