The Metropolitan Chief Executive of the Tema East Constituency , Mr Robert Kempes Ofosuware, won the candidacy to become the party’s Parliamentary candidate for the 2012 elections.
He polled 300 votes as against his opponents Mr Eben Tawiah Anuwa Armah 82 votes, and Mr Tetteh Bediako Kraku, 60votes.
There were five rejected votes and one person was absent.
The Tema Metropolitan Electoral Officer, Mr Gabriel Manu ,declared Mr Ofosuware the winner after the votes were counted.
There were solidarity messages from the New Patriotic Party , CPP, NDC Regional, National and Constituency Executives .
Mr Ofosuware promised to collaborate with his opponents to build the party in the constituency.
Both opponents congratulated Mr Ofosuware and gave the assurance to work with him .
At Adjei Kodjo , the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development , Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, won with 193 votes to become the Tema West Constituency parliamentary candidate for the NDC for the 2012 elections .
The total votes cast were 328 out of an expected number of 357 .
Other contestants were Mr James Enus who polled 103 , Mr Richard Yaw Fiadomor seven , Madam Gladys Boateng one, and Mr George Medie 21 votes .
Mr Ofosu Ampofo attributed his victory to hardwork and promised to work hard to make the party stronger in the Tema West Constituency .
The primary was postponed on Saturday to enable the party mourn a leading member of the party in the area.
