A FOUNDING Member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. George Ayisi Boateng has described the presidential candidate of the party, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo, as someone with the requisite political and leadership experience to restore the country to its past glories.

Mr. Ayisi Boateng noted that Nana Addo's courage, competence, political experience and level of self-confidence makes the former Foreign Minister the most perfect choice for the presidency.

The NPP founding member asserted that Nana Addo's selfless contribution towards the country's political development, from the dark days of Ghana politics, right through multi-party democracy, unreservedly attest to his competence and leadership capabilities as someone fit enough for the presidency.

'NPP delegates could not have made any better choice, as Nana Addo is the perfect choice, and I believe he possesses the remedy to the country's socio-economic and political problems,' he noted.

Mr. Ayisi Boateng made the observation when he spoke as a special Guest of Honour at the official inauguration of Agogo Presbyterian Nurses Training College branch of TESCON, an intellectual wing of the party, over the weekend.

According to him, the people of Ghana would experience the needed socio-economic advancement that we have been craving for, once Nana Addo assumes the presidency.

Touting the NPP flag bearer's contributions to the nation's political development, Mr. Ayisi Boateng said Nana Addo was among the political figures who struggled to ensure multi-party democracy, at a time many people had been forced into silence, under the PNDC government.

He said the NPP flag bearer, together with personalities of blessed memory like Prof. Adu Boahen, B.J da Rocha and Peter Ala Adjetey including others, fought against political tyranny and broke the culture of silence that had then crippled the country.

The NPP noted that under multi-party democracy, Nana Addo played an integral role in ex-President Kufuor's administration as an Attorney General and Minister for Justice, and also as a Foreign Minister, stressing that in all capacity, the NPP leader served the country with dignity and commitment.

Mr. Ayisi Boateng, therefore, indicated that the time had come for all supporters of the party, including members of TESCON, to give their full support to the party's flag bearer and to help NPP secure victory come 2012.

The NPP founding member, who also doubles as the patron of the intellectual wing, observed that even though the financial status of the party was not the best, members should try as much as possible to contribute their quota to ensure the development of the party, bearing in mind the slogan of TESCON, which says 'Commitment Without Inducement'.

'The country is going through so much difficulty because the government of the NDC lacks the managerial capabilities to administer the country and it is, therefore, the duty of you and I to help make sure we vote them out,' he charged.

He observed that the NPP stands to gain a lot if members of TESCON would gird their loins and help propagate the ideologies of the NPP.

Mr. Ayisi Boateng also descended heavily on the President Mills administration, describing its recent fuel increases as insensitive and wicked.

The NPP founding member accused President Mills of hypocrisy and arrogance, wondering why he and his government have refused to apologize to the good people of Ghana, like his predecessor, after failing to drastically reduce fuel prices in the country.
