The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Adenta in the Greater Accra region, Madam Kakra Nubyi Vanlare and some of the Adenta constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have engaged in accusations and counter accusations over the Curriculum Vitae (CV) that the former presented to the Vetting Committee (VC) for her appointment to the current position.

Whilst the constituency executives, Mr. Delasi John Ahamah, the Deputy Organizer and his Secretary, Mr. Christian Golo are accusing the MCE of falsifying her CV and also using their names as her referees without their consent, the MCE is also accusing the duo of fraud.

In a protest letter sent to the MCE, the two executives wrote- “We want to categorically lay emphasis on our conviction with regards to your academic records based on careful study and examination of the evidence before us, we have the right to protect our hard won reputation from any criminal endeavours.”

Madam Vanlare, however, told The Chronicle that she had neither falsified her CV nor used the names of her accusers as referees, as they are claiming, and insisted that the allegation has no merit.

She alleged that the two party executives deliberately inserted their names into her CV and are bandying it around as if she (Vanlare) had prepared it herself. According to her, it would not be reasonable to insert the names of her accusers, who are constituency executives, in her CV because the position she was contesting for demanded neutrality.

Ms. Vanlare explained that during the contest for the position of MCE, every executive member should be seen to be neutral to all the candidates, it was therefore not prudent to use the name of an executive member, since it would mean asking for favour from them.

he insisted that she completed University of Ghana in 2000, and was pursuing her Masters programme at the Institute of Adult Education with student ID number 10075166, adding that during the vetting of the candidates for the position of MCE, the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) did due diligence on her C.V.

She welcomed the threat by the executives to take her to court on charges of perjury, since that would afford her the opportunity to clear her name. In the said letter which was copied to the Minister responsible for Local Government and Rural Development and a host of others, the NDC Adenta executives demanded the immediately removal of their names from the CV of the MCE, after detecting that her claim of having a Master's degree was false.

According to them, after the questionable performance of the MCE for the past five months that she took office, they decided to cross-check on her qualification, where some of the institutions she claimed to have attended were false.

The two constituency executives stated that on the CV she submitted to the constituency and the Regional Offices of the party for consideration for appointment to her current position, she indicated that she was at the University of Ghana between 2000 and 2003, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, Religions and Theatre Arts.

She also stated that she went back to the University of Ghana in 2006 to pursue her Masters degree in Development studies, a course she has still not completed. However, checks conducted revealed that nobody graduates with three courses from the University of Ghana.

“As far as information from the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) of the University of Ghana is concerned, Ms. Kakra Vanlare has never been admitted in Legon to pursue any Masters Programme in Development Studies, therefore the information on her CV is false,” the letter reiterated.

Further checks from the registry of the University revealed that she was never admitted to do any degree programme in Legon. They said the only record on her at the registry was that she was admitted in 2001 as a matured student to read Diploma in Theatre Arts with student ID 10069282 on the main campus of the University.

“She did not write a single examination and abandoned the course, there is no single academic record about her at the University, and what it means is that, if she has any qualification at all, that should be GCE ordinary level certificate which she claimed she obtained at Keta Secndary School in 1980,” it stressed.

They said when one of the executives questioned her about the anomaly, she claimed that the CV she submitted to the constituency was different from what she submitted to the nomination committee headed by Alhaji Mahama Iddrisu.
