Ho, June 4, GNA - Colonel Cyril Necku (RTD), the Deputy Volta Regional Minister, on Thursday said the ills that the June 4 uprising sought to eliminate in the society still existed and at unacceptable levels.
He said the tenets of that brief era should reflect in governance at all levels at all times.
Colonel Necku, who was interacting with journalists during a cleanup exercise to mark the day in Ho said “We are not sleeping, we want those vices to be eradicated.”
Ex-Bombardier Clement Atitsogbui, Organizer of the Volta Region Cadre Corp, said the benefits of June 4 to national development far outweigh the negatives.
He said the era was a crucial historical antecedent to the democratic era the nation enjoyed now, which could never be de-linked by anybody.
Ex-Bombardier Atitsogbui faulted politicians for the inability of the country to build on the gains of the June 4 uprising.
The volunteers aided by workers of the Zoomlion, de-silted gutters and cleaned sections of the Ho Central Market and the Central Public Transport Vehicle Terminus.
