President John Evans Atta Mills has appointed a three member committee to investigate allegations of financial impropriety in the Ghana@50 celebrations.
They are former Auditor-General Kwesi Prempeh, a legal practitioner Mariet Brew Appiah and chaired by former Appeal Court Judge, Justice Isaac Dotse.
Presidential spokespersons Mahama Ayariga announced this Thursday at the Castle, Osu.
Joy News correspondent Steve Anti who reported from the Castle said the team's work is independent of the current series of interrogations of former officials ongoing at the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI).
Whilst investigations by the BNI are aimed at investigating a wide range of issues, the three-member committee will focus only on the celebration of Ghana's 50th milestone.
The move is line with the president's campaign pledge to look into contracts signed under the Kufuor administration.

Sometimes i really wonder why and how we can be very negative to our own country especially people living in europe and america, the same people go back to ghana and go and show off the wealth, new life style etc and yet they create tension in the same country they suppose to love in the confort of their civilized countries, these goes to all the main parties and big wigs in abroad cos all ye will be safe in ur homes if something bad should happen in ghana and i know lot of people still have a lot of love one back home. What is wrong for someone to give an account of the money spent during it term.first of all the money is not his(mpiani`s)personal property same goes to kwabena agypong and everyone that have used tax payers money,mr ET Mensah was question the same way so why all this big deal about some npp group going to make a press confrence in the usa, that same people will get on the first flght out of ghana with their foreign passpost and leave does f**ls behind to be sluted like piece of chicken,we all want a better ghana so if mills found out that there was missuse of ghana`s money on our 50th annverssary they should be punish.full stop

Hello Mr. BEE, Nobody sees anything wrong for people to account for what they do. In any democracy, there are rightful institutions for those cases. Ghana is not different.
Pls find out the duties of the "BNI", asd ask yourself what they have to do concerning this "MPIANI" case. The only legitimate institution to deal with Mpiani and co. are the law courts of Ghana, and I suppose they have not been abolished yet. (Even if someone I know would rather have Judges physically eliminated).
Back to Mpiani etc.:
The President has formed a 3-man Committee to investigate ... He definitely knows Mpiani is being questioned by the BNI, but he also knows that the actions of BNI in this case is legally questionable.
Mr. BEE, whether you are aware or not, we have a Democracy in Ghana, not a "Revolutionary Dictatorship".
