A government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) after next Sunday, December 7 Elections would attract investors to the Upper West, Upper East and Northern regions to create businesses and ventures to employ the youth.
This would help break the poverty cycle and curb the influx of the youth from the three northern regions to the urban centres in the south to undertake menial jobs.
Mr John Dramani Mahama, Vice Presidential Candidate of the NDC, stated this on Sunday at a rally of the party at Old Fadama in the Odododiodioo constituency in Accra.
He told the teeming crowd of party supporters and members, most of them hailing from the three northern regions that the Presidential Candidate of the NDC, Professor John Evans Atta Mills, who had been acclaimed as a man of peace would solve the various conflicts in their home areas including the one at Dagbon when he formed the next government.
The NDC Vice Presidential candidate promised that a government of the party would be humble, truthful and transparent and said it would manage the resources of the country prudently and ensure an even distribution of the national cake.
Mr Mahama criticised the economic management of the government and said, "Even though it claims micro economic stability it does not reflect in the people's pocket.
He introduced the incumbent MP, Mr Jonathan Nii Tackie-Komme, as the Parliamentary candidate of the NDC to the electorate and urged them to vote for him to retain the seat for the party and for Prof Atta Mills to form the next government.
The MP recounted some of his achievement after the by-election in the area in 2005 especially in the areas of educational infrastructure, Information Communication Technology (ICT) and social development and appealed to the people to renew his mandate and vote for the party to end their suffering.
Nii Tackie-Komme commended the people of the area for standing solidly behind the NDC over the period and urged them to remain committed to the party to end the economic hardships facing them.
The Constituency Chairman, Mr Daniel Nii Okai, told the party members and supporters that next Sunday success would be theirs with the NDC "Sweeping the elections". He noted that the Agbogbloshie Market were most of them earned the livelihood was constructed under the administration of the NDC and said the party would improve facilities there when it formed the next government.
