The Tinkong and Nyamibekyere branches of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) women's group has organized a three-hour clean up exercise at Tinkong in the Akropong constituency as a prelude to its
formal inauguration on Saturday, August 29, 2009.
The group weeded and cleaned the Tinkong community meeting grounds and along the Tinkong–Konkon road.
Addressing the women after the exercise, the interim chairman of the group, Ms Abigail Peprah, said it was time women showed more interest in political affairs of the country because most of the decisions and policies implemented by politicians turned to affect women and their children the most.
She congratulated the women for their participation in efforts to keep the environment clean and urged them to organize people in their neighbourhood to clean their houses while they spread the good news of their party.
Mrs Peprah called on all women around Tinkong, Nyamibekyere and surrounding communities to join in the formal inauguration of the group on Saturday.
