PNC calls for fair media coverage of the partys activities
29.12.2007 LISTEN

PNC has expressed concern about the unfair media coverage of the party's activities, especially the state owned media. At a Press Conference at the party's Headquarters in Accra, the General Secretary of the Party, Benard Monah said the media has the task of promoting democracy at all levels by ensuring a balanced and equitable coverage of events.

He said any keen observer of the performance of the media will tell that deliberate attempts are being made to sideline the activities of the party.

He noted that the media has given more attention to the congresses of the NDC, CPP and NPP than PNC.
Mr. Monah mentioned the Daily Graphic, and the Ghanaian Times devoting their back and front pages to the residential aspirants of the NPP but did not extend the same gesture to the PNC when it elected its presidential candidate and other officers of the party in November, 2007.

He also accused the GTV for running promo for the flagbearer of the NPP and the parties Chairman. He called on media houses especially the State owned ones to ensure that democracy is entrenched in the country by given equal treatment to all political parties. He assured Ghanaians that the PNC will form the next government.

The presidential candidate of the party, Dr. Edward Mahama said, he has the experience that will enable him win next elections because he has been in the race for four conservative times. He also said he has the ideas to improve the economy and put money in the pockets of Ghanaians saying he is the brainchild of the National Health Insurance Scheme and the School feeding programme.
