My attention has been drawn to a banner headline titled; “ALAN BOYS MAR OGUAA AFAHYE” and an accompanying story, which appeared in the Monday 3rd September edition of The Chronicle. I wish to take this opportunity to condemn in no uncertain terms, the malicious attempt made by the reporters who filed the story, to grossly misrepresent the joyous and celebratory atmosphere, which characterized the festival. The story without doubt, was intended to cause public dis-affection towards me and to injure my hard-earned reputation nurtured over many years, as a man of peace and someone who cherishes decent behaviour.

Anyone who attended the festival would attest to the fact that it was not only one of the best organized Afahye in recent history, but that it was also devoid of any incident that could be said to have diminished in anyway, the pomp, pageantry and the peace that was associated with the event.

For anyone therefore to suggest that some “Alan boys” marred the festival could only be a figment of the imagination of individuals with poisoned minds and ulterior motives.

It is becoming increasingly clear, that The Chronicle is prosecuting an agenda to destroy my image and tarnish my reputation for reasons best known to themselves and to their agents who they may be working for. I wish to strongly caution them to desist from such practice for their own good.

I wish to use this opportunity to congratulate the Chiefs and People of the Oguaa Traditional Area, for a successful Afahye.

Signed: Alan Kyerematen
