NPP Election 2024: Stop pressuring Bawumia to choose your preferred people as running mate' — Group to party members
APR 22, 2024 LISTEN

A coalition of New Patriotic Party (NPP) executives from various levels of the party, grassroots members, and supporters of Dr. Bawumia's candidacy have united to offer their advice to the NPP's 2024 flag-bearer.

They are urging Dr. Bawumia to resist pressure from certain factions within the party who are advocating for their preferred candidates to be chosen as his running mate.

During a press conference held in Kumasi on Sunday, April 21, 2024, the pro-NPP group emphasized the importance of announcing a running mate at the earliest opportunity. They stressed that making this decision sooner rather than later would enable the party to launch a robust campaign strategy essential for securing victory in both the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.

Mr. James Aggrey Fiifi Eshun, the Spokesperson for the group and second vice-chairperson for the Oforikrom Constituency, cautioned Dr. Bawumia against succumbing to pressure from those vying for the position. He criticized the publicity stunts employed by certain individuals to gain attention from the flagbearer, deeming such tactics unnecessary.

Eshun firmly stated that the selection of the NPP's running mate "is not up for contest," and therefore, lobbying and advertising of potential candidates should cease. He urged for patience and trust in Dr. Bawumia's judgment, emphasizing that the decision should be his alone without external influence.
