Persons with Disabilities at the Centre of Bawumia Campaign Team. The Makubu Factor.

Hon. Dr. Joshua Makubu, the immediate past Oti Regional Minister and a person with disability have been appointed as the Campaign coordinator for Persons with Disabilities and Special Needs for the Bawumia and NPP 2024 campaign.

Hon. Joshua Makubu's appointment does two things. It rekindles the inclusiveness of Persons with Disabilities and Special Needs in the NPP following his removal from the Akufo-Addo government as the Oti Regional minister in the recent reschuffle. A section of Ghanaians and party faithfuls were disappointed that the only person with disability in the government has been excluded, but Bawumia has brought him back. Hon. Makubu's appointment also gives assurance to the Persons with Disabilities and Special Needs that they will have a significant role to play in Bawumia's campaign and subsequently in his government should Ghanaians retain the NPP in power.

Diaspora Patriotic Forum (DPF), an NPP affiliated Think Tank touched based with party faithfuls in some of the party's external branches across Europe, Middle East, Asia, Africa, the Americas and the Oceania on Hon. Makubu's appointment as the campaign coordinator of Persons with Disabilities and Special Needs. The reaction was ecstatic and almost every member contacted approves of Bawumia's judgement with the appointment. A very popular decision.

The Diaspora Patriotic Forum further sought the opinion of apolitical Ghanaians in the diaspora on the inclusiveness of Persons with Disabilities and Special Needs in the campaign of a major political party. The general opinion was that this is a positive step in our nation building. In their various countries of domicile, disability is not a barrier to participate fully in the national development and they show much admiration of Bawumia for giving Persons with Disabilities and Special Needs a platform to be integral part of his campaign.

The Vice President, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia with the support of his wife, Samira Bawumia has spent his last 7 birthdays with Persons with Disabilities and Special Needs under the auspices of Rev. Father Campell. The appointment of Hon. Makubu is a testament of Bawumia's paradigm shift towards inclusiveness in the nation building. He has done it in financial inclusion as vice president and and he will do Persons with Disabilities and Special Needs inclusion as a president. It is indeed bold solutions for the future.
