NPP Dumsor: If you don't do things right, you will lose the elections, wouldn't get 100 seats — A Plus to NPP
MAR 18, 2024 LISTEN

Popular Ghanaian musician and politician Kwame Asare Obeng, known by his stage name A Plus, has issued a stern warning to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He intimated that the NPP risk losing the 2024 elections if the persistent power cuts, known locally as 'dumsor', are not resolved.

Speaking on Accra-based UTV's United Showbiz program on Saturday, March 16, A Plus strongly criticized the NPP government over the recurrence of dumsor that has plagued the country in recent months.

According to him, it is about time NPP flagbearer and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia should be told the realities on the grounds so he can work hard to amend things.

"They are losing and not breaking the eight. It is about time someone tells Dr Bawumia that they are losing the 2024 elections. This is the only way he can learn and get things done right,” he said.

A Plus warned that if the situation is allowed to continue, the NPP may not be able to even secure 100 out of the 275 parliamentary seats in parliament.

“With what is going on currently, I think that they will lose several seats. If the NPP gets more than 100 seats in Parliament, it will be shocking," the outspoken musician and politician stated.

The resurgence of power cuts has triggered public dissatisfaction with the government's handling of the energy sector.

There have been heightened calls for the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to release a load-shedding timetable but the power distributor has refused noting that there is no ‘Dumsor.’
