Death Will Expose Every Corrupt Ghanaian Politician

Feature Article Death Will Expose Every Corrupt Ghanaian Politician
MAR 13, 2024 LISTEN

Everyone will eventually pass away because nobody is immortal, yet some deaths are so terrible that people can’t stop gossiping about them. One occurred just a few days ago. According to his close aide, NPP politician John Kumah was poisoned. Even though his wife has adamantly denied that food poisoning was the cause of her husband's death, I need to find out why many Ghanaians were happy and spoke about John Kumah's accumulated fortune after he tragically passed away.

What a funny world it is when people, including politicians, can be so cruel to the impoverished, stealing money from the government and accumulating wealth, just to pass away without taking a penny into their graves!

While many people who enter politics in developed nations have specific life goals that motivate them, such as serving the people, advocating for their interests, and building communities, most politicians in developing nations, like Ghana, are motivated to become politicians by corruption. The law to declare assets before going to politics doesn’t work, therefore, these politicians start politics as simple people, like the vulnerable, who later become Ghana’s richest politicians.

I have never seen such jubilation over a politician's death before, following John Kumah's passing, because the impact of corruption is too severe. Akufo Addo assured Ghanaians he would battle corruption like never before in the country's political history, and the people trusted him. However, little did they realize that the man was working toward his own agenda. Corruption has destroyed countless businesses and investments in Ghana and caused unemployment in various infrastructure sectors.

NPP politicians don’t only embezzle state finances; they also steal money from international institutions. To make matters worse, many abuse their position of authority by stealing the properties of the underprivileged. As far as I know, in Ghana, many people took land from the impoverished, including the late John Kumah. Ghanaians are permitted to serve them, but if you don't care about their suffering and you are stealing their money, don’t make their lives miserable by stealing their lands.

I don’t hate any Ghanaian politician, but the facts must be acknowledged. People's emotions and suffering cannot be exploited by someone who promises to combat corruption, stop illegal mining, and offer amenities for a better life, only to turn his back on them once they have cast their ballots. No politician can avoid the curses these weak individuals spoke of out of grief. Imagine this; Akufo Addo swore to address a country wrecked by illegal mining, but he was one of the culprits behind the illegal activities.

Since Akufo Addo has refused to prosecute any NPP politician involved in corruption, many NPP politicians have considered this as a free pass to commit corruption anywhere in Ghana, including the north, south, east, and west. The president ordered the release of Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, alias Sir John's frozen assets, to his family after the Special Prosecutor froze his assets. Eugene Arhin, the president's director of communication, was also freed. Is that how to fight corruption?

What is being practiced in Ghana by the NPP government is neither politics nor democracy. Ghanaians are witnessing political greed, crime, and widespread corruption. Such treacherous claims as "the NPP will never hand over power to the NDC" would never be heard in a true democracy. Such claims, which have the potential to incite political violence, are motivated by greed and the failure of the state. Many NPP politicians, such as Akufo Addo and Bryan Acheampong, have stated that the NPP has failed.

The Christian Council of Ghana continues to preach to the people about holding peaceful elections in 2024, yet they don't think anything is wrong with making such treacherous remarks that could spark violence during the election. This time, there won't be any injustice like in 2020, when Jean Mensa got away. The severe hardship and devastation caused by the NPP government will not generate votes for any failed vice president who wants to be president and is responsible for the collapse of the nation’s economy.

Amid gold, diamonds, cocoa, and other precious metals, Ghana has become one of the most hopeless countries in West Africa due to Akufo Addo's appetite for corruption and his inability to prosecute offenders. These actions have not only destroyed the country but have also corrupted many others, including judges, pastors, police, army personnel, and heads of churches.

Ghana, which used to be the second-largest cocoa exporter in West Africa behind Ivory Coast, is now importing the bean. Any prudent Ghanaian ought to take this seriously and as a warning that this government has nothing better to offer Ghanaians. I warned Ghanaians that once Akufo Addo was elected president, he would destroy the country; instead, I faced attacks. Now, I'm warning them that if elections are rigged in Bawumia's favor, Ghana will deteriorate much more.

I wish to remind all Ghanaian politicians that no matter how hard they try to manipulate the people, force them into poverty, rig elections, and steal as much money as they want, they will still be held accountable to God for their actions and will be exposed after their terrible demise.
