Samira Has Betrayed Her Father Kwame Nkrumah Over Ghana's Anti-Homosexuality Law

Feature Article Samira Has Betrayed Her Father Kwame Nkrumah Over Ghana's Anti-Homosexuality Law
MAR 9, 2024 LISTEN

Samira, the daughter of Kwame Nkrumah, whose father led the Gold Coast as prime minister from 1952 to 1957 and went on to become Ghana's first president following the country's independence, has devalued her father's ideas, philosophy, and accomplishments by vehemently opposing laws that seek to protect Ghanaian family values and appropriate human sexual rights. According to the former Jomoro MP, President Akufo Addo shouldn't approve the anti-LGBTQ law.

Parliament just passed the anti-LGBTQ Bill, also known as the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, a few days ago, after it had been a contentious issue for the previous three years. Since then, Ghana has been commended by many people worldwide for making that choice, but it has also drawn criticism. However, many Ghanaians were taken aback when Samira opposed the law, even though she ought to be the most knowledgeable person about her father's beliefs.

Following the wave of independence that swept through Africa and the fall of Apartheid in South Africa, which forced the US government and all of its colonial overlords to flee the continent, the West and the US government have been working nonstop to establish mechanisms for controlling the continent and to find ways to deal with its rapid population growth so that they can fully profit from its abundant mineral resources. Therefore, the US and the West have self-serving interests in the fight for legalization of homosexuality in Ghana.

While the GBTQ communities are supported by organizations and wealthy people, the situation in Africa is different. Developed countries have high-quality medical facilities that treat a variety of dangerous diseases. Even though homosexuality has long been prevalent in Africa, the legalization of LGBTQ in Ghana is not something that the majority of the people want because of their values, traditions, and heritage. Ghanaians value their culture and would never tolerate anything that might jeopardize it.
Kwame Nkrumah, one of Africa's most hard-working presidents, was motivated by a desire to free his nation from the damaging sway of the US and other Western powers. His collaboration with Patrice Lumumba to secure Congo's independence in 1960 outraged the Belgian authorities and resulted in the lack of a Belgium embassy in Ghana to this day. It’s very sad that Samira, couldn’t promote and support the ideology and philosophy of her father but rather betrayed him over the anti-homosexuality law.

Although the US government actively promotes democracy, it is well renowned for being the world's worst country when it comes to human rights abuses and crimes against humanity. They never want to hear "no," for an answer, and they have the money to advance their agendas and immoralities. War escalation is another well-known trait of the administration. For example, a lot of people blame Russia for attacking Ukraine, but very few are aware that the US administration started the conflict.

The US administration is now attempting to use Ghana's mandatory legalization of homosexuality as a tool for dividing the country, a conflict that may eventually spark civil turmoil. The US administration has failed to see that, although Ghanaians are resilient, they would not put up with being forced to accept the legalization of homosexuality. Since Akufo Addo knows that his government is heading towards the opposition, he believes that the US government would retain his government if he failed to sign the bill.

I have to let the president understand that there is nothing the US government can do to help them stay in power if the bill is signed or not. The political battle in the country right now is not between the NPP and the NDC, but rather between the NPP and Ghanaians, as the majority of the populace wants to remove this treasonous, destructive, corrupt, and treacherous government from office. Not even Jean Mensa can stop it because it will spark political violence if she repeats what she did in 2020.

Considering her dishonest and corrupt actions that have destroyed Ghana's economy, businesses, and investments, Jean Mensa should guarantee a free and fair election if she truly loves herself, and her family, and wants them to live in peace. Ghanaians are not ready to endure another eight years of hardship and detention within their own nation. Regarding Samira Nkrumah, I will counsel her to assist the US government in allowing homosexuality in Egypt, as her mother is Egyptian.
