CPP Executives threaten sanctions against members engaged illegalities with former National Chairperson

Any member of the Convention People's Party (CPP) in the Ashanti region who engages or participates in illegal activities of the former National Chair and Leader, Nana Frimpomaa Sarpong Kumankuma will be sanctioned according to the party's constitution, the Ashanti regional executive committee has cautioned.

At a press briefing held on Monday, 8th January, 2024, at GNAT hall in Kumasi, the committee reiterated their decision to take disciplinary action(s) against any member who breaches the constitution of CPP.

They told the press that their faith, trust and confidence in the Interim Council put in place by the NEC, and its efforts since its inauguration in December 2023 have inspired hope in the rank and file in the region.

"Since the historic and significant decision of the National Executive Council (NEC) at the GNAT Hall in Kumasi, we have continued to reassure the Interim Council of our full support and readiness to work in cohesion and co-operation to redeem the glory of the Convention People's Party (CPP), Abdul Salam (Regional Secretary) said at the press briefing.

He added that the regional leadership together with executives from the 47 constituencies in the region have accepted the Council and its mandate of guiding the party to elect a new national leadership.

"As stipulated by the constitution of the Convention People's Party (CPP), the National Executive Council (NEC) is the next highest decision-making body of the party after the National Delegates Congress.

"This means that the decision of NEC can only be changed by the National Delegates Congress and therefore its appointment of an Interim Council to steer the Party's affairs in the interim is legitimate and legal", he noted.
