Ghanaian actress Martha Akomah has dragged fellow actor Kwadwo Nkansah, known well as Lilwin to court over some defamatory statements he allegedly made against her.

In a writ of summons filed at an Accra High Court, Martha is seeking GHS5 million in damages for the dent on her image.

“Therefore, the plaintiff is seeking Damages in the sum of 5 million Ghana cedis for the defamatory statements made by Defendant. Compensatory damages for the damage done to the reputation of Plaintiff,” parts of the summons signed by the actress’ legal team read.

It is alleged that in a video that has since circulated on social media, Lilwin condemned Martha's earlier statements during some media interviews, which sought to downplay the storylines of recent Kumawood movies compared to the Agya Koo era.

“I love their storylines and they used to have really good movies like Kumasi Yonkuo, but of late, most of their movies portray witchcraft and that does not motivate me to shoot with them,” the actress, who is also a brand ambassador for GTP is quoted to have said in an interview with Accra-based Hitz FM.

In the said defamatory video, Lilwin said the actress does not deserve to be a brand ambassador if not for the favouritism by some politicians—a statement, deemed among others as harsh and unprintable words towards the actress.

"Who knows you? If not for GTP and senior government officials who signed you on at GTP, who would have signed you? What kind of star are you?" said a portion of the writ.

Lilwin has been given an eight-day ultimatum to appear before the court to respond to the issues raised or face the consequences.
