Striker Jordan Ayew says Aston Villa are not underrating League Two side Luton Town ahead of Wednesday League Cup clash.

Championship side Villa are huge favourites in the first round tie at Kenilworth Road.

Ayew has warned his side not to write off the lower division who are capable of causing a major upset.

"We know we're the favourites and they're the underdogs,' he said.

"It's important to be wary of their threat, they'll be really up for the game.

"A good run in the cup is our main aim. Winning brings confidence and will only help us going into our next two home games against Rotherham and Huddersfield Town."

Ayew has been linked with a move away from Villa Park but club owner Tony Xia insists the Ghana international will not be sold.
