League Report Portuguese gaffer Sergio Traguil convinced Hearts is better than Benfica
JUL 26, 2016 LISTEN

Portuguese trainer Sergio Traguil says Hearts of Oak fans are the best in the world and better than Portuguese powerhouse Benfica.

Traguil, 35, was overwhelmed by the teeming numbers of the Phobian fans during Sunday's Super Clash which ended in a 1-1 stalemate with rivals Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

Hearts fans recoiling around the former African champions once again and the staggering backing and impressive reception before, during and after the match on Sunday has left Traguil stunned.

The 2000 CAF Champions League winners have managed wins against Dreams FC and Sekondi Hasaacas while drawing with Kotoko in three last three games.

Traguil is dazzled by the teeming numbers offered to his side as they continue the surge to win the league title for the first time in a six seasons.

He feels Hearts have better supporting spirit than Portuguese giants Benfica.

'I have to say that I have never seen so much love and support [like I witnessed on Sunday against Kotoko from Hearts fans],' coach Sergio confessed to facebook.com/accraheartsofoak.

'I saw it in Hasaacas but what I saw in Kumasi was something else - something from another world. I think the Phobians are the best supporters in the world.

'I saw Benfica and I was part of them. I was thinking that Benfica have the best supporters in the world but I will have to review that. Now, I am sure that Phobians are the best supporters in the world. Thank you for that support.'

Hearts have shown great potency in claiming the 2015/16 league title with the trio Isaac Mensah, Cosmos Dauda and Patrick Razak making waves in the second round of the league.
