Liberty Professionals head coach, George Lamptey has confessed he is uncertain of achieving the club's target of finishing amongst the four best teams in the domestic league after faltering at home against Dreams FC.
The Scientific Soccer Lads were stunned at the Carl Reindolf Park by the Kweiman-based Club courtesy of Eric Gawu's strike eight minutes after half an hour into the game.
And George Lamptey, who earlier in the season revealed that "our target this season is to finish in the top four and we have the right personnel in trying to achieve that," says he is afraid the dream is far from reach due to their inconsistency.
"I am a little bit afraid. But I am the coach and the boys need inspiration from me so I don't have to show it. I must remain strong and push them, tell the boys that 'we can do it' so that we will try and see if we can achieve it," he said in a post-match press conference.
Liberty Professionals were the dominant side until they were reduced to ten men by match day official, Ali Alhassan after Emmanuel Antwi seem to have stuck his boots on Emmanuel Eli Keke, and he was booked for the second time in the game.
Mr. Lamptey disagreed with the referee's decision. He says the team is afraid of officials because of the treatment often meted to them.
"We don't have problems, we are always afraid of referees, but when it comes to the game of football, we are always ready (for any opposition)," he said
Explaining why they are afraid of referees, he said:
"It is the way the handle us," adding that "the (first) yellow card he (referee) gave my boy (Emmanuel Antwi) was not a yellow card. We all saw it. He shot the ball against the Dreams' player and he booked him, that's too bad," he noted.
Liberty dropped from 6th to 8th on the league log after the defeat on Sunday. It was their third loss at home this season, The others came against Aduana Stars and Medeama SC.
Their next outing will be on the road to Tarkwa to face CAF Confederation Cup participants, Medeama SC arrived in Ghana on Sunday after their one-all stalemate against Young Africans in Tanzania.
