Pulse Sports wishes the Black Stars and Anzhi Makhachkala defender a happy birthday as he marks his 26th birthday on Wednesday.

Jonathan Mensah was nurtured by Ashanti Gold Academy, before playing for the senior side of the club. He joined former boss at AshGold David Duncan at Free State Stars, before he was transferred to the Italian serie A side to begin his European adventure at Udinese and would go on loan at Granada in the Spanish league from the Italian outfit.

The Black Stars defender in 2010 moved to the French league, where he signed for Evian, before joining Anzhi Makhachkala in Russia in 2016.

Jonathan Mensah has featured for Ghana at different levels. He was part of the Black Satellites team that became the first African side to win the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt in 2009. He was later drafted into Black Stars, where he would be part of the team that finished runners-up in the 2010 Africa Cup of Nation in Angola and later in the year take part in the 2010 FIFA World Cup when Ghana reached quarter finals to equal the feat of Cameroon and Senegal in the mundial.

He has since that time featured prominently for the Black Stars, playing in three more Africa Cup of Nations and the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
