Sports News Ghana Premier League: Officiating affected Hasaacas psychologically - Basigi
JUN 27, 2016 LISTEN

Sekondi Hasaacas coach, Yussif Basigi claim officiating in the first quarter of their first 2015-16 Ghana Premier League (GPL) second round fixture against Inter Allies affected his players psychologically.

According to the Basigi, who doubles as the head coach of the Black Queens of Ghana, early decisions by match-day referee Samuel Sukah and his assistants gave his players the feeling that they were going to be humiliated by officiating, though the referees corrected themselves, his boys were already psychologically affected.

"I was quite disappointed not with the boys because at a point in time the officiating was not fair, but anyway they corrected themselves but already psychologically the boys thought they were going to be humiliated by officiating but a point I think they got on track and did well and both teams also played well," he said in his post-match press conference.

Sekondi Hasaacas were second best from the onset of the game and had only one attempt on goal which was saved by Osei Kwame. However, Mr. Basigi is adamant his boys did enough to have earned a point if the officials had been fair to both teams.

"When the game started, the first 10 - 15 minutes, the officiating was not good all until they took a penalty and the goal that they allowed...I don't want to interprete the laws for the officiating officials so I will leave the decisions as they are and we will go back and continue to work hard for better results.

"We came here to win; that was our ultimate aim but unfortunately we didn't get it. Today we didn't create any chances to hurt our opponents but we played well. I know the team that I have and I know where we have reached for now so I can say that I am satisfied with our performance," he said.

Frederick Boateng scored the only goal of the game four minutes into the game to earn Inter Allies all three points at stake.
