Sports News FEATURE: Kenichi Yatsuhashi must watch over his shoulders with New Mourinho's arrival
JUN 18, 2016 LISTEN

Hearts's decision to name a New Jose Mourinho as youth trainer means out-of-favour Kenichi Yatsuhashi could be pushed out anytime soon.

Sergio Traguil, 35, has no recognisable coaching experience apart from a spell with native club Estadio Portalegre who play in the third-tier league.

The Phobians officially confirmed Traguil's appointment on Thursday night and stated the low profile trainer would take charge of the club's reserves side - Auoras and the U17 side immediately.

But with the reported feud and broken relationship between Japanese trainer Kenichi Yatsuhashi, the 2000 African champions are likely to part ways with the fans-favourite and install Traguil in his place.

Kenichi has enjoyed staggering backing from the Phobian following and a crack could surface between the club's management and fans if he is fired unceremoniously.

Last month reports were rife that the maiden winners of the CAF Confederation Cup title board and management had come to decision to sack the coach over a reported broken relationship.

Despite an official confirming the decision to terminate his contract he was surprisingly left in charge with no statement on his future being released.

Kenichi collected just 13 points from his last 10 games in the first-half of the Ghanaian season

Traguil's role is currently being played by former King Faisal coach Stephen Abugri and no news from Accra has emerged on his status at the club.

It is understood Traguil arrived in the Ghanaian capital with his backroom staff to train the second-string side who are not actively engaged in any competitive league fixtures.

Though the Phobians have netted a sponsorship package with GOIL, they are not totally extricated from the financial burdens breaking the necks of clubs in the Ghanaian top-flight.

But interestingly they have named Traguil to take charge of the club's youth sector with a full backroom staff.

The move remains a clear caution to Kenichi that his job as head coach of Hearts of Oak would not extend beyond next season and could be shown the exit if he fails to the results.

But the American-Japanese tactician has produced an enviable record in the Ghana Premier League going unbeaten in away fixtures for the first-half of the Ghanaian season.

Kenichi's Fans Backing and Ego
Hearts fans have fallen in love with the work ethics of Kenichi and are appreciative of the dignity he has restored the club and giving them voice before arch-rivals Asante Kotoko. The teeming fans who revolt against the club's management who any decision is taken deemed unfavourable for the club.

Kenichi was carried shoulders high by cheering fans when he guided the side to a miraculous come-from-behind win over Inter Allies at the Tema Park. He has clashed with management over his view of managing things, including publicly denying claims by management on some of his conducts.

Accra-based Happy FM read a purported text message Kenichi sent to a player the Phobians were courting, asking him to drop his interest in joining Hearts because his future at the club is in the balance.

Traguil's African Experience
The Portuguese man was supposed to take charge of Nigerian side Kaduna United in 2013 but the move could not materialise, meaning he has no recognisable coaching experience on the continent.

But Hearts's management want to grant him the time to monitor the Ghanaian scene by understudying Kenichi while he handles the first-team and would eventually replace him.

Traguil addressed himself as the new Mourinho in his maiden interview in Ghana, signalling to followers he is in town to take charge of the main team.
