JUN 14, 2016 LISTEN

Medeama SC's participation in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup is under threat due the inability of the club to meet the cost involved.

Medeama SC became the first Ghanaian club to progress to the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup, since Asante Kotoko in 2008, after dispatching of the South Africa League champions Mamelodi Sundowns in the final knockout stage.

The cost of travelling on the continent is very high and the Yellow and Mauves side after spending so much in qualification games is cash-strapped at the moment. Meanwhile, the appearance fees for qualifying to the group stage hasn't been paid by CAF, hence Medeama have called on stakeholders like the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports to bail them out from the financial constraints.

Medeama Sporting Club are supposed to leave Ghana to Congo on Thursday, ahead of their clash against the Congolese giants, T.P Mazembe in the weekend.

'We find ourselves in financial difficulties due to the cost involved. We are supposed travel to Congo on Thursday, but as I speak we haven't been able to raise money to purchase tickets for the trip. I am calling on all stakeholders to come to our aid, Moses Armah Parker, the President of Medeama told Happy FM.
