Three Ghanaian athletes for Paralympic qualifiers in Swtizerland

Accra, May 26, GNA - Three Ghanaian para-athletes are currently in Switzerland to participate in the "Swiss Para-Athletes Grand Prix", as part of efforts to seek qualification to the 2016 Paralympic Games in September.

The athletes are Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe, Patrick Yaw Obeng and Felix Acheampong.

A statement from the three athletes will seek to book tickets to the next Paralympic Games in the three day competition, which would take place in the Swiss city of Nottwill.

The competition, which would commence on May 26 to May 29, would see the trio participating in T54 events.

According to the statement, Acheampong and Obeng would participate in 1500 and 800 meters, whilst Nkegbe would represent Ghana in the 100m, 200m and 400m.

The statement said, the three were sponsored by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) and Dan Devan Group of Companies.

Ghana is seeking to increase its participants at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio, Brasil later in the year.
