Ghana winger Andre Ayew has credited Abedi Pele with being his biggest influence in his football career.

Ayew has been widely praised after a sensational debut season in what is regarded as the toughest league in the world, English Premier league.

His 12 goals contributed to Swansea placing a respectable position on the league table.

The Black stars deputy captain believes his football career would not have been what it's today without the advise of his father.

'When you are lucky to have a dad like that, you try to learn from him and take his advice,' smiles Ayew during his first interview with Jack Magazine.

'He was a great player - three times Africa's best - and won the Champions League as well as all the other trophies that exist.'

'I ask him for advice because he is somebody who knows football very well, but when I was younger he never pushed me to play,' admits Ayew.

'When we were younger, he didn't really want us to play football. He wanted us to focus on school and education and to make sure we had respect for people when we were growing up. Those were his priorities.'

Abedi Pele who won African player of the year on three occasions plus the UEFA champions league with Marseille is regarded as one of the best players the continent has produced.
