GHALCA: Kofi Poku kicks against ex gratia for out-gone executives

The out-gone Executive Council Members of the Ghana League Clubs Association do not deserve ex-gratia for their service to the mother body of all league clubs in the country, according Kofi Poku.

Kofi Poku was a member of the Alhaji Braimah Raji administration who handed over the leadership of the association to Kudjoe Fianoo about two weeks ago.

There have been calls for GHALCA to replicate the norm of the Ghana Football Association who paid $ 15,000 to its members last year for their four years' service when they lost their seats in the FA elections.

But Kofi Poku has kicked against the idea.
"GHALCA is a body that represents the welfare of the clubs, but what have we done improve the clubs to deserve ex-gratia?," the MTN FA Cup Committee Vice Chairman told Happy FM.

"We came to serve GHALCA and that is how it should remain. Had we invested resources into the association, I wouldn't have a problem if they are thanking me with something go home with, but we didn't do that," he added.

The Chief Executive Officer of Unicorn Travel and Tours also kicked against monetizing positions at the various associations.

He explained that the growth of football in the country is down to the ideas generated from these football adminstrators, but monetizing the positions could be dire to the game.

"I think running the associations should not be down to what we will gain in terms of money. The GFA paid ExCo members ex gratia doesn't mean GHALCA should follow same path," he opined.
