Medeama coach Evans Adotey says his side merited their CAF Confederation Cup qualification at the expense of Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Mauves and Yellows triumphed 2-0 at the Essipong Stadium in Sekondi on Wednesday to advance on the away goal rule after tying 3-3 on aggregate.

Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane suggested they were handed a raw deal by the referee and intimidated by Medeama officials but Adotey who has replaced Tom Strand was quick to dispel that.

"We won the game on merits, the first goal was through a penalty but the second goal was classical. They were even lucky we had other two penalties but the referee disallowed them,' Adotey, the club's technical director, said.

"I just went to my opposite number to find out why he was protesting against the center referee and therefore nobody should talk about officiating."
