Talk is that Ivorian striker Wilfried Bony could return to Swansea City, but while Ghana ace Andre Ayew says he would be welcomed with open arms he thinks Bony would stay at Manchester City and fight.

The powerful striker was Swansea's leading Premier League goalscorer before he was signed by City in a £25 million deal in January last year

But on the final day of the 2015/16 Premier League season, Bony didn't make it off the bench back at his old club, Swansea, whose goal was scored by another African - Andre Ayew - but the draw was enough for City to be guaranteed Champions League football next season.

Ayew was spotted chatting to Bony after the final whistle, and the former Marseilles hero believes that Bony might feel he still wants to prove himself at City.

“I spoke to Wilf at the end but I didn't tell him to come back but we all know he had two great seasons here and scored a lot of goals for the club," Ayew told Wales Online.

"He went to a very big club and I do think he still wants to succeed there and hopefully, for him, he gets that opportunity – but if he wants to come back we will take him with open arms.”

Meanwhile Ayew said that he would be happy to stay at Swansea despite talk that they would let him go for a price in the region of £10 million.

“I don’t have much to say about that – I think you should ask the chairman. What is important for me is that I keep doing my work and the truth of today is not the truth of tomorrow," Ayew said.

“I’m happy here. If I have to stay, fine. If I have to leave, I have to leave. I want to stay. We have a fantastic group. We’ll have a discussion and see the way forward.”
