Medeama SC skipper, Muntari Tagoe is confident they will edge Mamelodi Sundowns in the final round of the play-off to reach the group stages of the CAF Confederations Cup.

The Mauve and Yellows travelling arrangements had to be delayed by a day after the South African Embassy in Accra initially denied them visas.

The team left Ghana on Thursday, and will hold just one training session before the game against the new South African PSL champions, but Tagoe is adamant they are mentally ready to the tie.

''At the long run we have had our visas, we thank God. We are going in with mental toughness. The players are psyched up. We will do our best to make sure we qualify there before we come to Ghana,'' he said before the team enplaned to South Africa last night.

Muntari also called on Ghanaians to throw their weight behind the team to achieve success in the competition.

''We want everyone to support us. We are going to do our best to write our names in the history books.

He added that the difficulties the team went through to secure visas won't affect the team.

''It was not good but we just have to put it behind us. We are matured and we know what to do. We'll put it behind us and psyche ourselves up for the game.''

He reiterated that he and his team-mates are optimistic that they will qualify to the group stage.

''We will definitely qualify to the group stages, we still have that ambition and nothing will stop us from making it into the money zone.''

Medeama SC knocked out Al Ittihad and Al Shendy of Libya and Sudan respectively in the previous rounds to book a ticket with Mamelodi Sundowns.

The game will kick off at 16:00 GMT local time.
