League Report The last time Hearts of Oak were coach by a white coach, they failed to beat Kotoko
APR 30, 2016 LISTEN

Hearts of Oak will be going into their premier league home game against Asante Kotoko with an expatriate white coach for the first time in about five years and for those of you interested in history - this should serve you right ahead of the biggest game in the country on Monday.

Japanese-American trainer Kenichi Yatsuhashi whose performance so far has been satisfactory as he has chalked memorable wins over Medeama SC, Inter Allies and Ashantigold in the league but Monday's game against arch rivals Asante Kotoko is yet another gruelling test for coach Keni as he is affectionately called.

But Hearts of Oak and Kenichi are up against history in another abstract battle - the last time they entered into a Kotoko game, they did not win and that was on 20th November 2011 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Serbian coach Nebosjsa Vucicevic was in charge of the Phobians as they were held to a frustrating goalless draw by the Porcupine Warriors whose coach was Maxwell Konadu during Week 7 of the 2011/12 Ghana premier league which Kotoko would go on to win.

As if by coincidence, the referee who officiated that game, Messrs Awal Mohammed - has been chosen to handle Monday's game again.

Another bad news for Hearts of Oak. If history is to repeat then, Hearts of Oak would not win come 02 May 2016 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Soulama Abdoulaye now at Hearts of oak was then the goalkeeper of Kotoko, there were other players like Yaya Mohammed, Nathaniel Asamoah, Ahmed Toure, Michael Anaba, Michael Akuffo, Daniel Nii Adjei in the starting line up of Kotoko and for Hearts of Oak, Sammy Adjei was in goal and some players in the likes Philip Boampong, Uriah Asante, Moro Abubakar, Isaac Ofori, Douglas Nkrumah started the game.
