Berlin, Feb.11, (GNA/dpa) - Struggling Bundesliga side Hoffenheim Thursday appointed 28-year-old Julian Nagelsmann as coach to replace Huub Stevens.

Nagelsmann, who was in charge of the Under-19 team, becomes the youngest coach in Bundesliga history.

Dutchman Stevens, 62, quit Wednesday because of heart problems.

Nagelsmann, who was due to take over at the end of the season, has signed a contract until June 2019.

The club are second-bottom in the German top flight, level on points with basement side Hanover after picking up just 14 points in 20 games. They visit fellow strugglers Werder Bremen on Saturday.

Nagelsmann is expected to complete his coaching qualifications in a few weeks. Both the German Football League (DFL) and German Football Federation (DFB) have approved the appointment, the club said.
