FEB 11, 2016 LISTEN

Ghana Sports Minister Nii Lante Vanderpuije has promised to make Black Stars coach Avram Grant stay in the country and stop his excessive travels outside Ghana.

Former Chelsea coach Avram Grant was appointed as head coach of the senior national team of Ghana, replacing former Black Stars captain Kwesi Appiah after the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament in Brazil.

Avram Grant in his first major tournament as coach of the Black Stars reached the final of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations where his side were beaten by Cote d'Ivoire on penalties.

The manager has however come under criticism for not staying in the country to monitor the local league during time as coach of the Ghana national team.

Nii Lante Vanderpuje, speaking on the situation told Accra-based Starr FM:

'It is my conviction that our local coaches have the ability to excel and do better than the foreign coaches. We have a foreign coach now. I don't have a problem with Avram Grant.

'I think he is a wonderful coach but I am going to insist that he spends lot more of his time in Ghana to transfer knowledge and technical know-how to our coaches to build them up.' Follow @kboakye92
