Ghana defender Gideon Baah has revealed his Ghana national team-mate Lloyd Sam played a major role in his decision to sign for New York Red Bulls.

The 24-year-old joined the Major League Soccer (MLS) club on Tuesday night from Finnish giants HJK Helsinki.

The Ghana international utility player arrived in New York over the weekend for a medical before signing with the Red Bulls.

Baah recounts his experience playing alongside the former Charlton Athletic attacker last October on their Ghana debuts and reveals he played a key role in his decision to sign for the club.

"He played an integral part. He told me good stuff about the club. It's a big part of the reason why I'm here, so I thank him for that. My agent, Dimitri Seluk, also played a big role," he told the club's official website.

But Lloyd is a good guy and I've been talking to him ever since we met in the national camp. When it's all said and done, I'm here and I'm ready to play for the New York Red Bulls."

The former Asante Kotoko defender also says Senegalese forward Macoumba Kandji gave him heads up on what he is to expect at the club and the MLS.

"I didn't speak with Tainio, but I did speak to Mac. He said a lot of great things. Generally, I came in with a good impression of not only MLS, but Red Bull especially. Making the decision to play for this club wasn't difficult at all. It's a good step for me in my career, so I just took the step," he stated.
