Ghana and AshGold goalie Fatau Dauda has revealed the entire AshGold team was instructed not to go for the second place medal after they lost 1-0 to Medeama in the Super Cup game.

The Miners risk the wrath of the Ghana Football Association after coach Bashiru Hayford instructed his team to boycott the medal ceremony after the loss to Medeama.

Substitute Bernard Ofori pounced on a lose ball in the eighteen yard and made no mistake, putting the ball pass Fatau Dauda who was in post for the champions.

Before that new signing Fredrick Quayson had scored what looked like a legitimate goal but the referee on the day turned it down.

'As for me the issue of the medals was an instruction from above and I could not do anything about it,' Dauda told Accra based Happy FM

'I have a lot of medals and adding this one to it would have been ok but once authority decided against it there was nothing I could do about it.'

The Miners who will be representing Ghana in the CAF Champions League campaign this year but have looked less convincing in their preseason games and will have to improve if they are to stand a chance of doing well in the competition.
