Jose Mourinho Does Not Have His Hands On My Manchester United Job – Louis van Gaal
07.02.2016 LISTEN

LOUIS VAN GAAL refuses to believe Manchester United betrayed him to line up Jose Mourinho for his job.

Mourinho expects to be made Old Trafford boss in the summer following talks after he was sacked by champions Chelsea earlier this season.

But under-fire LVG cannot imagine the Special One has had discussions with United  chiefs.

He said: “When I know there is such a nonsense created about me, then I cannot believe there is already a relationship with Jose Mourinho and Manchester United either.

“It is the same. I cannot believe that because I have seen what is happening in the last two months and it was difficult for me, my wife, kids, grandchildren and friends to cope with that.

“But it is not the first country — in Spain and Germany I had to cope with that.

“It is the football world nowadays, it is a pity but it is like that.”

Mourinho has been waiting for the United job — and has been ready to take it — since getting axed at Chelsea in December.

.
Van Gaal was on the brink at Christmas but saved himself getting the chop from United kingmaker Ed Woodward with a decent performance against Chelsea, who he faces again today.

But LVG says he has always believed in his managerial skills.

He added: “I never doubted it. In the Netherlands they know I am too arrogant for that.

“I analyse the circumstances and you cannot fight against circumstances beyond your responsibility.

“It is logical that you are criticised when you lose four matches in a row, I have never done that as a manager. Then it is logical that people are doubting.

“In December it was painful, very painful as the circumstances were against us, maybe we could manage it better?

“I don't think so but we could have won those four games also, it is not that we easily lost.”
