Accra, Feb. 5, GNA - The Fudo Kikai Black Steath Karate Academy at Ayalolo in Accra has honoured Mr. Daniel Nii Okai, a Patron of the Academy with a Black Belt Honorary first Degree Shodan.

In a citation accompanying the certificate of honour, the Chairman and Chief Instructor of the Academy, Shihan George Slater Commodore commended Mr. Okai, popularly called 'Toza' for his untiring support both physical and in-kind to the Academy over the years.

He recalled the role he played, leading to the Academy's participation in international tournaments and karate programmes, both within and outside the country.

Shihan Slater Commodore praised Mr. Okai for his contribution towards making the sport popular in the country and urged other philanthropists to support the sport to help instill discipline among the youth.

Mr. Okai, who is the Chairman of the Ashiedu Keteke Sub-Metro of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) and a former Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Odododiodoo Constituency, thanked the Academy, especially the Chairman and Chief Instructor for recognizing what he described as his 'modest contribution' to the fortunes and activities of the Academy and promised to continue.

He called on Ghanaians, especially the youth, to patronize the sport, not only to stay strong and healthy but also to develop the character of fortitude, discipline, morality and honour, which martial arts seek to instill in its practitioners.

Mr. Okai advised members of the Academy to take their training seriously and to obey instructions, which he said, would help them in future.

Mr Okai was presented with a karate uniform and a black belt, whilst 20 other members of the Academy were tested and elevated to the various levels and its accompanying belts.
