Majeed Waris returned to action for Lorient in France

Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris made a return from injury to play for Lorient in their comfortable 2-0 win over Stade Reims in the French Ligue 1 on Saturday night.

The 24-year-old was handed a starting role by Lorient boss Sylvain Ripoll and he played until he was replaced on the 70th minute mark by Algerian international Walid Mesloub.

Waris received some warm reception from the home fans on his return as his named was chanted by the Lorient fans.

However the four-goal striker could not get on the score-sheet for the 'Oranges' who won their first game in five.

Waris's return will come as a welcoming news for Ghana as coach Avram Grant will continue to monitor the performance of his attacking options abroad with Spain-born Inaki Williams also in the pipeline for a call-up.
