Finnish giants HJK Helsinki have all but confirmed that Spanish giants Barcelona are in the hunt for their defender Gideon Baah insisting that top clubs in the world have approached them for the Ghanaian.

HJK Helsink CEO Aki Riihilahti won't mention the name of 'big clubs' keen on the left-back but says they have received lots of offers from top sides in Europe for Baah who can also play in central defence.

Ghana's leading football news outfit GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively revealed last week the interest from the Spanish giants which caused a lot of stir in the Ghanaian media.

With no confirmation from the Finland club or the Ghanaian player over the deal, there were doubts that the Spanish club would be keen on signing Baah even though he hugely impressed in the UEFA Champions League.

However, HJK Helsink CEO Aki Riihilahti says Baah has attracted interest, but he did not want to identify the clubs involved.

"I can say that Gideon has been of interest. We do not need to sell our players but we will understand the situation where a big club will make an offer, then yes, we will be looking for solutions," Riihilahti said.

"At the moment the situation is the fact that we have offers and proposals that have come from large clubs. Rumours and inquiries I will not make any further comments on."

Riihilahti insists he does not want to speak about individual clubs interested in the Ghana international defender but says he wants offers to be discussed by the transfer window shuts by the end of the month.

"The club has seen these offers which we have come. I do not want to identify the relevant clubs to the media," the HJK Helsinki official said.

"I hope that we can keep our team intact. We also hope that some players can move forward if there is something concrete, which we can negotiate. The interest and discussion is a long way to generating concrete transfer," Riihilahti said.

The 24-year-old, who plays for Finland giants HJK Helsinki, is strongly suspected to have been contacted by the Spanish champions following his exploits in the UEFA Champions League this term as they seek to boost their left-back position.

Multiple sources among agents close to the deal that have told Ghanasoccernet.com that Barcelona have already reached out to his club seeking a deal to sign the Ghanaian on a deal for at least six months.

Baah's club HJK are in advanced talks with the Catalan-based club and the deal will be stitched up in the coming days this transfer window.

It looks like both parties will agree an initial six-month loan deal and the cultured left back could be handed a bumper deal in the summer if he impresses.

Barcelona are on the market for a left back with Jordi Alba injured and Adriano agreed to join AS Roma.

Currently Sergi Roberto is the only experienced player in that position.

Baah, 24, has been touted for greatness since moving to Finland in 2013 to join FC Honka.
